The Human Rights Conference took place between 26-28th June, 2024 in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece as part of Europride.
Our delegates took part in a plenary session to provide an input and to discuss "Law Enforcement and Pride" with the conference attendees.
EGPA President Alain Permentier began with a presentation covering the work done by EGPA and its involvement in Pride across Europe. Alan Sneddon gave an historical perspective about police participation in Pride in the UK. Monica Giorgi spoke about her experiences in the Carabinieri and involvement with Polis Aperta (Italy). Michael Lolis acted as the plenary moderator and spoke about the situation in Greece and the work of Police Action for Human Rights.
Following the inputs, a Q+A session took place with panel members answering a variety of questions from the conference audience including some of the challenges facing the police and the LGBTIQ+ communities and being LGBTIQ+ and serving in the police.
Feedback from the conference organisers and audience members were highly positive about the session and EGPA are grateful for the opportunity to particpate and contribute to the success of the Human Rights Conference and Europride in Thessaloniki.
